Wow, I can't believe Dr. Darrach-Cottick. I was terrified of the dentist so much that I hadn't visited a dentist in years. I was happy to hear that their specialty was anxiety. I set up a plan with them to get my dental work done at my own pace in the way that was best for me. I had an opportunity to overcome my fear and finally get the work done. Wow, after years of being terrified of the dentist, I was so glad when I came to see Dr. Alex. It had been years since I last saw a dentist, and I was really embarassed about my teeth but he and his team set up a plan to help me with my fear and go at the speed that I was comfortable. His staff were really kind and understanding about my anxiety. Dr. Alex was really gentle, and took the time to explain what he was doing. If you are as afraid of the dentist as I was, see Dr. Alex.
In this office Dr. Alex pushes his suggestions for orthodontics and other specialists that are not required. Also there is another Dr. that is not mentioned at all in the website and ony uses a first name. A bit suspicious that no credentials are to be found on Dr. Hana. Tried to overcharge twice.
With minimal explanation was recommended $6000 orthodontic treatment or night guard for grinding. Got 2nd opinion from another dentist- much more thorough exam and NO evidence of grinding. Saved from unnecessary appliances and cost!
I'm autistic, and I went here hoping for a more sensitive, inclusive experience, as advertised. Instead, the staff, (especially the in-house 'dental counsellor') acted dismissive, patronizing, and ignorant towards me. They "mixed up" the time of my appointment so I was left waiting for twenty minutes, poked fun at some of my accommodation requests, and told me that I was wrong about my own anxiety coping strategies. The "counselor " in this practice should not be involved. Minimal privacy in this office lead to me overhearing the way the staff is spoken to behind closed doors. If you cant treat your staff with kindness and respect it is a recipe for an unhealthy work environment....yet she is the counselor ?? Something doesn't add up
Very poor work! Just started seeing a new dentist and found out the crown I had placed was terrible. I have very bad gum problems in the area now due to Dr.Alex negligence in removing the extra glue and not having the crowns edges smoothed down. I may even require surgery! Also the fillings he did that went under my gums are in the same condition. So many problems that could have been prevented with a little more care and time. Beware of Dr. Alex's 'philosophy' when it comes to amalgam fillings. Despite the Canadian Dental Association not recommending the unnecessary replacement of these fillings, Dr. Alex will prescribe and pressure you into a very aggressive treatment plan for replacing your existing fillings. His claim is that his personal research has indicated these fillings will eventually break down and need replacement anyway.
